Anchorite in Bavaria in the ninth century. Said to be of Anglo-Saxon royalty. Too many theories, not enough facts.

Not sure if this “Saint” is real. The Salome familiar to most asked for St John the Baptist head on a platter when Herod asked her to dance for him. Would look into that…
She is real. We simply know almost nothing about her. Not uncommon for a lot of saints in some of the portions of the Middle Ages.

Yes- I found a few conflicting stories about her. All state that she was of Royal blood and all refer to her aunt Judith who lived as an Anchorite with her and is also canonised. One article said she allegedly poisoned her wicked husband and was exiled. Another article said she went on a Pilgrimage and became lost and ended up living as an Anchorite. Saint Salome was an Anglo-Saxon princess in the Ninth Century. When she went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem and was temporarily blinded by some accident, she decided to settle in the vicinity of a convent in Bavaria, Germany, with no possessions and secluded. Her aunt Judith was sent by the King of England to look for her and and stayed there as well. Even living as a a hermit after St Salome died.
