When my kids were growing up and old enough to understand politics I used to tell them that most Republican politicians often were useless crooks, but that most Democrat politicians were all too effective crooks. I also said that the best argument against the Democrat party was what it tended to do when holding power. My own father put it succinctly long ago. Every now and then people have to say, So that is why my old man said he would sooner chew off his right arm than vote for a Democrat.

Let’s not be too hard on domestic violence victims. They are hurting and the healing takes time. Until then, the healing of abuse victims, we must just pray for them.

The Democrats had two, arguably three candidates who competed well and were more suitable than Bilge Clinton in 1992. What they got was a man whose l/t mistress graced the cover of the National Enquirer, a recording of one of their phone calls where he remonstrates with her to ‘stick to the story’ and a published letter courtesy an irate Army colonel which demonstrated that the Democratic candidate had indeed executed a series of maneuvers which got him excused from military service. (There have over 50-odd years been three notable presidential candidates with crooked and embarrassing service records – Pat Robertson, Clinton, and Bernie Sanders). You had an honest-to-god draft dodger running against a combat veteran and the public did not care. He was returned to office four years later running against another combat veteran.
So, who were Donald Trump’s principal opponents? Two men with no executive experience (one of whom had lied to his electorate and got himself snookered into joining upChuck Schumer’s Gang of Eight deal) and John Kasich (a man we now know was controlled opposition all those years). We might have had something better, but Scott Walker elected to leave that million dollar bill on the sidewalk and listen to his donors rather than his voters. Between Messrs. Trump and Cruz, it’s kind of six of one, half-dozen of the other.
