PopeWatch: Francis the Protestant Pope

Actually I doubt if even Martin Luther would have thought this was a good idea.  No good ever comes in the Church of confusing the Laity and the Clergy.  I assume this is part of his ongoing war against Catholics who know the Church did not begin in 1965.

Hey now! What did we do to deserve this?? He’s your responsibility, don’t be passing him off onto us!

You probably would have been better off electing an actual protestant as pope. (a lot of us still believe the Scriptures) Heck even a Mormon would probably done a better job.

He’s a heretic. That millstone around his neck gets larger and heavier each day.

JMJ, Imagine if he is conscious for an hour or so before he knows he is going to die. He is fully aware of all the evil he has done. He knows that his actions and inactions have resulted in many sinning. He knows that all his co-conspirators cannot save him from judgment by Jesus. Hopefully, he will say, over and over, “Jesus, have pity on me a sinner.” Hopefully, this Jesus whom he has denied, blasphemed, condemned, -this Jesus whom he held bodily in his hands and desecrated will hear him. In several ways, this Jorge Bergoglio is the most pathetic man who has ever lived, Guy, Texas

This to me shows the Church intends to run religious communities as money making organisation to benefit the Church pocket. There is no other reason you would get a lay person to manage a group of nuns or priests other than for this reason.

I assume this is targeted at declining religious orders. Some group of sisters down to five elderly members trying to maintain their apostolate and needing someone who can use email. I’ve never understood why there are so many societies of female religious.

Bergoglio is not the vicar of Christ. Can anyone imagine Christ acting like Bergoglio? Q. e. d.

Because I can’t see any other practical value for it, for good or ill.

What gave you the idea the Pope was being ‘practical’, or that small orders themselves were incapable of ‘practical’ solutions to their problem? Or that it was ‘practical’ to put elderly sisters under the authority of laymen?

To shut them down. Consolidate them or make them “profitable”. Another way the Church is “getting cwith the times”.

How is putting a lay person in charge of nuns going to increase the numbers of nuns in a religious order?

Religious Orders are managed internally. Either funded by the Church, or they create some form of income to assist in their management. They now want to hire a layperson, pay them a wage, and ask them to manage a group of nuns who live a vocation they know nothing about.

needing someone who can use email.

This made me laugh- can’t they teach mother superior to use a computer?

I’ve never understood why there are so many societies of female religious.

Thats one you can ask the Saint who founded the order at the time with the approval of the Church at the time. Oh better still, that one you can ask God who inspired the Saint who founded the order with the approval of the Church.

Yeah, ask God.

I’ve got a ton of questions for God about Church history. But then again, the icons always depict the saints in Heaven with big eyes and small mouths, to see rather than to speak, so I’ll hope for that.

I assume there are religious orders which have vanished over all of Church history. I’m sure things are worse now, due to vocations, but there must be a standard practice for the last few members of an order. Anyone know about it?

I have no idea what your point is, besides that there are too many useless religious.

The “nuns on the bus” are all getting up there in age, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of women banging down the door to join that order. But they do spread the uber-lib message far and wide and manage to rake in some serious donations at the same time. I could envision an infusion of liberal laity could keep that propagandist gravy train running for decades to come.

It’s probably partially about the non-religious members of the Knights of Malta being allowed to run / control the Order and all of their money. Currently only professed members can lead the organization. Bergoglio has wanted their money for a long time…
