“Passing” as a member of another race is probably as old as the concept of race. The physical differences between the races are as nothing compared to the physical and mental differences between the sexes. Race of course is a sacred cow of the Left, next in importance only to their worship of abortion, and it must not be touched. Thus mentally ill men who think they are women are women according to most Leftists, but a white attempting to be black is anathema. We live in a time of magical politicized thinking, which would be funny if the consequences were not so dire.
Two of my grandsons are bi-racial and can easily pass for whichever they choose. They are about to enter college/the workforce and I told them when asked, to identify whatever the institutional culture seems to favor. This game can be played from both ends of the field and maybe some day merit, rather than artificial social constructs, will be the measure of a person’s worth.
Make sure your grandsons know that it will bite them, with the ‘token’ thing– but they are likely to get bitten by that even if they don’t choose to identify as whatever is favored, and if they work hard and do a good job, they can fight against the assumption of “is in favored group, will be worthless at best.”
