Priest martyred during the Cristeros War in Mexico. He was 29 when he was executed on May 27, 1927 for the “crime” of being a Catholic priest. When his body was exhumed in 1933, his heart was found to be incorrupt.
Saint of the Day Quote: Blesssed Agustín Caloca Cortés
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
So many have suffered greatly for our Lord Jesus Christ and for the faith. It’s good to look to their example. If nothing else it helps to keep the sufferings I endure for the faith in perspective. Some have suffered to the point of shedding blood. By the grace of God I haven’t. Not yet anyway, and hopefully not ever.
Douay-Rheims Bible;
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5-8
And those who are persecuted for righteousness sake? The kingdom of heaven is theirs.
If we don’t help convert our neighbors through prayers, fasting and sacrifices, my guess is that they will be in support of ridding the Catholics from this land. It’s a real threat. The culture of death see’s Catholics as a roadblock to their hell on earth.
Blessed Cortes, pray for us.
Viva Cristo Rey!
