Something to share on my 53rd birthday for anyone pressing deeper into middle-age…

You are no longer young,
Nor are you very old.
There are homes where those belong.
You know you do not fit
When you observe the cold
Stares of those who sit
In bath-chairs or the park
(A stick, then, at their side)
Or find yourself in the dark
And see the lovers who,
In love and in their stride,
Don’t even notice you.
This is a time to begin
Your life. It could be new.
The sheer not fitting in
With the old who envy you
And the young who want to win,
Not knowing false from true,
Means you have liberty
Denied to their extremes.
At last now you can be
What the old cannot recall
And the young long for in dreams,
Yet still include them all.

Happy Birthday Ben! 🙂
Thanks for the poem
Happy Birthday, Ben, and many more!
Birthday Blessings to you Ben!
Thanks to all!
At 56, 53 seems much younger to now than it did three years ago. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Ben. When I was twenty-five I thought every one over thirty was ready for the bone yard. Four decades later fifty-three seems quite young to me!
Think of this…
1970 is just as far from 2022 as 1970 and 1918…
Mind blown.
I do that mental gymnastic all the time Ben as to dates. It can be mind blowing.

Hey Ben. Happy belated Birthday!
Your book, Faith and Reason, has been shared with our Legion of Mary.
We had one Legionarie who was trying to help a young man cross the gorge to Catholicism and I gave her my copy of your work.
He’s still undecided however your work is a part of his conversion on the horizon. Heather, our Sr. in the Legion, was impressed with your insights as well.
God bless your works in Christ.
Let’s make this right.
FAITH WITH GOOD REASON.
Sorry Ben.
That’s why I don’t make the big bucks. :^]
Ben, as a 92.1 year old, all I can say is that 53 is the prime time… enjoy it!
Thanks Phil,
We sow seeds, but often don’t ever know what happens to them.

Thanks Bob, I will.
Prime time indeed. Pondering it, I’m better off financially, mentally and spiritually than 20-30 years ago and physically actually weigh a bit less. In the words of Hulk Hogan, “Say your prayers and take your vitamins.” In that order of course…
