WASHINGTON, D.C.—In a passionate speech on the Senate floor today, Democrat Chuck Schumer eloquently defended the filibuster before suddenly realizing he was reading one of his old speeches from two years ago.
“The filibuster is a sacred element of our most holy democracy and I believe that with every fiber of my very being,” Schumer began. “All who attempt to do away with it—or even question it in any way—are attacking the very foundations of our most hallowed rule of law. They are also racists who want to bring back segregation. WE MUST STO–“
Schumer suddenly stopped pounding angrily on his lectern as he realized he was reading the wrong speech.
According to sources, his aide had accidentally printed out “passionate filibuster speech 2020.docx” instead of “passionate filibuster speech 2022.docx”, putting the Senator in a very awkward situation.
The politician then skillfully changed the message of the speech hoping no one would notice. “The filibuster! IT’S RACIST! IT MUST BE STOPPED! JIM CROW 2.0! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
All the Democrats in the Senate then stood to their feet and cheered Senator Schumer for “totally nailing” his speech.
Go here to read the rest. Schumer’s attempt to nuke the filibuster went down to defeat 49-51 with Manchin and Sinema, as they have consistently stated they would do, voting with the Republicans. Now why would Schumer engage in this suicide theater, forcing his members running for re-election in Red or Purple states to take a completely useless vote? Because Schumer is terrified of being primaried by AOC in New York. Politicians are immensely selfish critters, but this takes the triple layer cake, and also demonstrates how terrified elected Democrats are of their own loony Left, as Democrat Senators in jeopardy in sane states tamely walked the plank. Manchin has no fear of the Left in West Virginia. Sinema in Arizona is playing a very interesting political game which may not involve the Democrat party long term. Pass the popcorn. For people not fans of the party of the Jackass this is going to be an amusing year.

The left doesn’t care about hypocrisy in the slightest. They care about what benefits them and hurts you. That’s it. If they seem like they care about hypocrisy, it is because they are lying in order to get you to hurt yourself.
A recent example of this is Robert Reich’s comments that all Sinema should have gotten from Democrat senators was the back of their hands. Usually such a remark would have been taken by the left as an endorsement of hitting “uppity” women to shut them up. But since criticism of Reich’s remarks does not benefit them you can find lots of them pretending that it is the height of dishonesty to think that Reich’s remarks could mean anything other than the most civil of disagreement.
But none of this is new. We’re all familiar with the appallingly racist terms they use for blacks who do not agree with them, but the hypocrisy doesn’t bother them one bit. If you are with them you are above reproach and if you are against them you must be destroyed utterly; that is the sum of their philosophy.
