Honesty compels me to acknowledge that the pontiff spoke out once in the past year about the Uighurs, mentioning them by name. Then, presumably, the ChiComs pulled the finan-xi-al choke-chain of some compromised cleric(s) and he returned to oppression-encouraging silence.
Still, that one time is more than he has ever spoken out on behalf of Chinese Catholics.
