When someone like this passes, it is always a test for me to sincerely wish for their salvation, and avoid Mr. Darrow’s response. 😁 Working on that.
Harry Reid’s steadfast opposition to the spent nuclear fuel geological repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada was a travesty. Instead of reprocessing spent nuclear fuel, Jimmy useless Carter required a once through fuel cycle on unfounded fears of proliferation of weapons grade Pu-239. Oh yea, Ford started this nonsense but Jimmy (Admiral Hyman G. Rickover’s only mistake) finished it. No light water reactor makes weapons grade Pu-239 – too much non-fissile Pu-240 mixed in. But as a result, the Federal govt mandated an unnecessary geological repository and made the nuclear utilities pay millions of dollars per year for it. But Harry Reid killed it and offered NO solution to spent fuel storage – neither reprocessing nor an alternate repository. So now he’s dead. I lived with the results of his obstructionism for all the decades I have been in commercial nuclear power. I shall shed not one tear for what he has done to this country, single-handedly making nuclear power too expensive on unfounded fears of radiation, radiation, radiation, we’re all a’gonna die. Nevertheless, maybe there is a silver lining. All that “spent” fuel in dry cask containers at commercial nukes around the country is really only 5% used – 95% of the energy in the form of long lived actinides is still there. And it can be consumed in fast neutron burners to make electricity. I hope that Reid appreciates that irony from across the great gulf where he is now.
I once asked my Mormon friends when the Quorum of Twelve was going to excommunicate Reid for abortion, etc. They responded to me, “As soon as the Pope excommunicates Nancy Pelosi.” Well, I guess death caught up with Reid. And it will with Pelosi too.

It is hard to “miss” such a bitter, terminally deceptive (Remember, fictional “Little Johnnie,” in Oct. 2013, supposedly telling Red, er, Reid about his “fears” of not being able to go to Jellystone Natl Park, because of a threatened government shutdown? The same government complex that shuts all the rest of us down for 1-2 years with glee?), and partisan a demagogue as Harry Reid.
I’ll give him points for remaining married and siring five children. Alas, his years in public life exemplified a number of the pathologies of our times.
I believe the phrase “too clever by half” is appropriate to Reid even though it redounded eventually to the benefit of the country. He is a perfect example of the death of real leadership and integrity even in politicians of different parties. RIP.
Death will catch up with Pope Soros the First too. As far as the catholic bishops excommunicating St Nancy, the catholic bishops stopped functioning as successors of the apostles many years ago. Todays catholic bishops are cultural democrats whose first love is the Democratic Party. Any conflict between what the church teaches and what the Democratic Party espouses they will always support their beloved culture of death Democratic Party. There are some exceptions, Strickland, Papeicki, Cordelione but even they will never criticize their brother bishops. Just remember Fod plus one is a majority. The catholic bishops are playing with fire and they will get burned if they refuse to relent
