Time, effort and prayer.
Parents must be committed too.
To raising altar boys. Yes. Boys.
The altar society at our parish is a tight group. At our TLM we are blessed to have 11, we used to have 14, altar boys. At the high Mass they are there. All of them.
At the 5pm Mass, on Sunday, at another parish that is liberation theology strong, we have zilch altar servers. Nada. A few years back they had a girl serving at the altar.
When I work Sunday’s at the home I get out by 4:30pm to make Mass there.
That priest is so happy for Pope Francis. He, PF, can do nothing wrong.
Here’s my question?
Which service is going to inspire young men to possibly entertain entering religious life?
As with Tolkien’s great interpretations and imagination in his trilogy, we are living in his novel.
Wizards who were good going bad, kings lethargy due to spells, Ohork’s on the rise and Gollum type coveting of neighbors goods and neighbors wives.
Our shires are threatened.
The KING of Kings returns.
Dawn breaks and the night is no more.
Each soul plays his role.
Each soul has free will.
Each soul will be rewarded for his bravery or for his cowardice.
If Pope Francis can not see the obvious structure of building young men into priestly vocations through a method tried and true, then he is condemning himself first and our Holy Catholic Church second, whether he realizes it or not.
That structure, the TLM, combined with committed parents and the grace of God, prepares the young men to hear the call.
What makes young men free and mature isn’t less discipline and less learning. It’s community grounded in Truth and living for others. Selfless gifts that are not chained by worthless practices, but chained with practices that ward off vice and welcomes virtue.
Ecclesiastes 6:26-32
….and her chain a robe of Glory.
Wisdom.
The TLM helps to build up wisdom, courage and virtue.
The fight for middle earth continues…but we, the small band of brothers who push on regardless of the heat, stench and betrayal, focus on our prize. Life eternal who inspired the TLM.
Who loathes the Latin Mass more than anyone? The answer is inarguably Satan. So then one must ask how any Pope claiming to be truly Catholic cannot seek first and always to grow it, never mind destroy it by regulating it into non-existence?
