MORE: Some men think the Earth is round, others think it flat; it is a matter capable of question. But if it is flat, will the King’s command make it round? And if it is round, will the King’s command flatten it? No, I will not sign.
CROMWELL: (Leaping up, with ceremonial indignation) Then you have more regard to your own doubt than you have to his command!
MORE: For myself, I have no doubt.
CROMWELL: No doubt of what?
MORE: No doubt of my grounds for refusing this oath.

If you are in this situation, don’t resign. Force them to fire you. That gives you more options, such as the ability to sue. It also reduces the ability of your employer to rewrite the narrative. If you resign they can claim that you are lying about why you resigned. If they fire you then they have to incorporate into their narrative the reason why they fired you, and if they lie they open themselves up to legal action (such as for slander.)

“Benefits of waiting to be fired:
While getting fired is not usually enjoyable, there can be some benefits. One benefit is that it makes you eligible for unemployment benefits. Most states will not provide unemployment benefits to anyone who voluntarily leaves their job. By being forced to leave, you are now eligible for some financial assistance until you get another job.”

Don’t resign. Refuse to comply, make the fire you, sue. The sane people in this country need to raise the transactions costs associated with these abuses.

Was thinking the same thing. Be a thorn in their side. It’s also a loss to the children when good teachers can no longer take the BS and quit. That’s what they want them to do. Stay put until they unfairly dismiss you and then go for gold!
