From 1957 the year of my birth. (Made in 1957 it was released on television in 1962.) Becoming oddly prophetic in 2021. Karl Marx said one true thing, quoting Hegel: History does repeat itself. Marx added: first time as tragedy and second time as farce. The woke variant of Communism is definitely the farce version.
The film is pretty heavy handed propaganda, but it also has a nice Twilight Zone vibe. (The Twilight Zone would air in 1959 but Rod Serling was writing the pilot in 1957.) In the trial of the hero, the military court tells him that the state determines what is true, which actually is the mantra of the woke, calling everything they disagree with as disinformation and fake news, with these edicts being enforced by almost all the media and the Tech Lords.
