My pembrook corgi mostly black, white and tan has been a faithful steed for many years. Great watch dogs. Superb hearing. But Think “ security monitor” not security guard. 🙂
I want a dog that barks not bites.
I understand corgis were bred to herd cattle by nipping at their heels.
We raised (for our soldier son) a pure-bred Norwegian Elkhound pup. They were bred to hunt elk (a moose in Europe). They were ‘wired’ to corner the beast, keep barking, prance in and out around it nipping at the legs until the huntsmen came up. This one tried it with me and a few delivery men a few times. The dog was nuts but you couldn’t help loving him.
In PA they hold field trials for corgis by having them herd geese flocks. A bit reminiscent of Mother Goose illustrations. Queen Elizabeth II has bred corgis for a long time. She raved to the palace baker how wonderful his scones were. A must for the afternoon tea table menu. Turns out it wasn’t the royals eating them. As soon as the tea was served the Queen crumbled the rich scones n tossed them on the carpets for her beloved corgis.
