No one is excited about turtle blood parasites….
Why would they?

In time it just becomes a question in trivial pursuit.

For the man, Platner. I don’t know his past nor do I care. All I do know is that parasites come and parasites go. If he finds God’s reservoir of mercy and forgiveness, may he evolve into a blessing and rob Satan of spreading curses.

Not quite ten years ago, I had a look at biographical sketches of the Minneapolis city council. There were at that time 12 councillors, 1 seat vacant. IIRC, about nine of the twelve had similar biographies. They were unmarried, childless, and their employment history consisted of stints with minor NGOs. Two of them were explicit sexual deviants (looking at their photos they were either men cosplaying women or women cosplaying men – could not figure which). One was a married man (childless) who owned a small business. Another was a town planner who was married with three children. How is it, in a municipality with a population of 430,000, you end up with 3/4 of your municipal councillors drawn from the Charlie Brown posse? (The people who lose elections in Minneapolis are often weird and obnoxious sectaries, btw). It’s as if in our time elective public office is now a collecting pool of people who have nothing better to do with their lives

(My mother had a scrum of women in her social circle who fit this description – unmarred, childless, and employed in the philanthropic sector. They were museum curators. They were all rather pleasant and unassuming characters who were not opinionated about much of anything. I know at least one was on some sort of advisory committee in the suburban / ex urban town in which she lived; none of them ever ran for public office. One made a hobby of gardening, especially vegetables. Another favored horseback riding. They weren’t causing trouble in this world).

The latest golden boy in the Democratic Party is James Talarico. He’s 36 years old, unmarried, childless, and employed in some sinecure in the philanthropic sector. He’s also something of a perpetual student – 7-10 years of tertiary schooling but no discernible skill set.

The childless spinster currently Attorney-General of New York is a quondam legal aid lawyer who hasn’t practiced in 25 years and let her license lapse after she won an elective office. In landing her current position, she defeated a black BigLaw partner who had other things to do with his life. The Attorney-General of Minnesota has the same professional biography.

Now we get to Platner. Much of his life has been spent in the military, an occupation segment for which partisan Democrats have no use and of which they often speak contemptuously. His family was sufficiently well-to-do that he attended boarding school for a while (and was expelled for misconduct). He’s only recently married, has no children, is currently employed in a business which functions as an auxilliary to a restaurant owned by his mother, and has a history of saying obnoxious and bizarro things online. A scrum of women testify that he’s…rough trade. The totenkopf tattoo is the maraschino on top. This is the man who defeated the quondam Governor of Maine for the Democratic nomination.
