Europe functions essentially as our genteely impoverished uncle now. All the outward marks of Old World sensibility, but nothing of substance to show for it anymore, all the while drowning in the disease of nostalgia.
Outside the Low Countries and Scandinavia, you won’t find a European constitution which was in force when the youngest of my grandparents was born. Sweden has a constitution-in-components. The oldest component was instituted in 1810 and the most recent in 1976. Some of the European ministates have antique political institutions, but only recently did they codify them.

The Scandinavian lunkhead would do well to define ‘advanced’ and ‘civilization’ and ask himself why he fancies Sweden has more of a claim on the classical heritage than any place in the Americas or the Antipodes.

Also, the last time American civilization tried to rip itself apart was in 1860 over the injustice involuntary servitude.
European civilization tried to rip itself apart twice in the 20th Century alone and is rapidly replacing itself with Muslim civilization because it is too self absorbed to work or pray.
