Could we at least have some dressing with the word salad?

I conducted 40 individual oral final exams last week and despite knowing the questions ahead of time (they drew at random) – there were close to half who did this very thing. Many times I had to say “get to the point” or “what is the point?”

Seems to be our modern disease of vapidness disguised through word count, or worse, obfuscation through word count. Which one of these applies to his Holiness?

This was posted on his official X account yesterday. Terrible.
“I invite you to be new threads to weave new networks that harmonize every aspect of life for a renewed society in which time is imbued with eternity, culture preserves memory and fosters dialogue, education promotes the search for truth with a critical spirit, art awakens wonder and gives rise to noble emotions, business recognizes the dignity of each person, and work continues to be a driving force for hope.”

Cuts to the point, doesn’t it.

There would never be another convert if he had his way.

if large language format computing (AI) is so bad, why is it a useful essential tool in decoding such statements?

“to overcome divisive polarizing narratives”
AI Overview
Overcoming divisive narratives requires intentional practices, such as active listening and replacing binary, “us-versus-them” language with empathetic storytelling. Experts recommend embracing complexity by seeking out thoughtful viewpoints, identifying your own assumptions, and focusing on healthy civil discourse rather than winning arguments.

“overcome sterile simplifications through the fruitful appreciation of complexity”
AI Overview
Overcoming sterile simplifications means resisting the temptation to reduce complex realities—like immigration, polarization, or societal challenges—into divisive, black-and-white narratives. It encourages embracing nuance and fostering “a culture of encounter”

The devil loves complexity.

The Bergoglio mini-me has the Jesuit-speak BS down pat, I would say.

“overcome sterile simplifications through the fruitful appreciation of complexity”

This is just the tired old modernist nonsense about rejecting absolutes like ‘good and evil’ in favor of the ‘gray areas’ … I guess the word salad helps disguise it?

I have no power to stop the pope, or any other bishop, from blathering on about nothing or worse – speaking into existence large millstones to wear around their necks.

Whenever I stop long enough to consider that though I am my brother’s keeper, I am not his overlord, I am comforted. No action of mine will be the least bit effective in stopping the theological and admibistrative pyromania of most bishops – except prayer.

“All I can do is pray” is a denigration of prayer (and God) by the Enemy. Prayer is probably the biggest thing we can do. It’s like, after trying to put out a fire with a water gun, you finally realize it’s a better idea to call your dad who happens to be the fire chief!

I apologize for my earlier comments that L14 may have to reorient himself a bit as he was out of the country for so long. It is obvious he still remembers the style of Chicago politics by speaking and saying little of meaning.

most of catholic media are grossly abdicating their responsibility to call out such nonsensical statements… and outright heresies coming out the last and present papa…

good bishops who we hope might say something(!) might be fearful of being replaced as Strickland was -and having a wolf take over their diocese…

good priests can fear being shipped to our lady of Siberia or worse -dismissed.

lay persons (as here) have a small voice that is almost always(!) squelched by diocesan bureaucracies..

It is so called “catholic media” that IS for the most part severely culpable.

The Pope’s speech reminds me of a Larson cartoon wherein the owner is talking to her dog, ” You are such a good little doggie. Mommy wants you to stay off the furniture, etc.etc”. The Dog looks at her and what he hears is, “Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.”

Were I in the audience, I would hear, “Blah, blah, blah.” Yawn. “Blad, blah, blah.”

The papal obscurantism and thick jargon seems to get worse every day.
