Somewhat off topic, it’s grimly amusing to recall that public television allocated a bloc of time monthly for a dose of Buckley. PBS appropriated the title of Buckley’s program eight years ago for an interview show conducted by a poseur Republican notable for being one of Herbert Hoover’s seventeen great-grandchildren. Buckley was stupefyingly prolific; Margaret Hoover has, at age 48, written one rather banal book.

Mr. Muggeridge had a great deal to do with my 15 year journey into the Church, for many reasons. I read him frequently and am still astounded by his wit and insight. I recall that he said the most significant thing that brought him into the Church was the Church’s absolute stand on abortion. He is one of my heroes.

The Cardinals and others must have lost their faith or never had it at all. When one hears of the sacrifices of priests in past times and more recent such as WWI and II, Korea, and Vietnam, I am convinced the church is led by wolves or lazy men only seeking a comfortable life. I came to know the church from my wife’s loving faith filled family. They followed the old ways and ignored V2 as much as possible. That would be sound advice for all of us.
On a fun side, I sure would enjoy hanging out at the communion rail in Diocese of the clown bishop in the Carolina’s. Someone needs to light that boy up and give him an earful. I am recently retired and my verbal filter has been misplaced.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this episode.

I believe it to be so relevant and in a sense timeless, as man continues to grope for God no less or more as man did 2,000 years ago.

In my opinion, Mudderidge’s ideal Christian is one who internalizes the gospels, tangibly applies them to neighbor and is cautious of men in power be it political or theological.

I will be sharing this episode with friends.

TAC. Thank you.
