As we wend our way through this Vale of Tears, most of us are that fox in regard to the truly important things of life. How many of the inhabitants of Judea were complete ignorant of Christ while He walked their dusty trails? That is not a criticism, but merely a fact of the human condition. Much of importance is revealed only in the passage of long periods of time, and probably the most important events are not ours to know this side of the grave. We do our best and pray that God does the rest.

Have my eye on the SSPX and their impending “excommunication” from the synodal church as believing Catholics.
Have mentioned this to persons who usually give a blank stare but if known most often say “ah i don’t pay attention to that stuff”.
randomness is what we perceive; what God sees is order and a plan.
Re the SSPX…there is an opinion piece on Crisis that links to another opinion piece on National Catholic Register. The NCR piece was written by someone who attends the Ordinariate for former Anglicans. He excoriates the SSPX. The comments to the NCR piece are amazing in their combination of ignorance and stupidity.
Pope Prevost has done nothing about Rupnik, appears to have done nothing regarding the financial disaster that is the Vatican Bank, lets Pastor Jimmy go about his merry way, congratulates the Anglicans on the “ordination” of their new archbishop….but has plenty of energy to cry for the Iranian regime and leaves TC in place after Cardinal Burke and the President of Poland told him to get rid of it.
Excommunicate the SSPX and they will grow stronger. If the ICKSP Mass was kicked out of Pittsburgh I will go to the SSPX parish with a clear conscience
I’ve been going to Sunday Mass when I can at a SSPx chapel. It’s about 50 minutes north of where I live. They’re rebuilding a stone former Episcopalian church and holding Mass in the recreation center. The pastor is solid. The people are human. Some are scared, some are bewildered, some are cultish, most are solid.
I’ve gone.. because I figure they need the support. They’re hated by the world and by persons in “the people who should know better club”.
If the Vatican excommunicates It will be as if a double barreled shotgun loaded, pointed and fired with It’s barrels stuffed with iron.
mark my words… a Massive Spiritual backfire/explosion.
A pastor who flirts with schism isn’t solid, no matter how well he says the Mass or composes homilies.
That’s true Pinky, but remember, there was a time when a good many pastors were Arians in order to avoid schism.
Pinky, exactly to the point. The head of the visible.
