I have zip interest in sports, but I have a lot of interest in this country. (Although I did attend hockey games at the U of I during my law school days. The cold stadium was nice on a hot day and the brawls that would break out were entertaining.) If Canada loses will they be given a stuffed animal as the Canadian women were after they lost the gold to Team USA?
Team USA men take the gold in hockey!

That!’ll hurt, cuz;
Canada(Hockey)=US(NBA+NHL+NFL+MLB….. religion+politics)
How appropriate. Prime Minister Mark Carney, take note!
I forgot to mention: like Donald, I have zero interest in sports except, of course, what I can do on the rowing machine. Time for my morning 7 kilometers. USA! USA! USA!
Elbows down.
The brawls are half the reason why people watch. Like the old joke goes, last night I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.
Rodney Dangerfield enters the chat. 😆
As a complete and total sports junkie, I love watching the Olympics, but these kind of games are the one time when the national pride supersedes everything else. Even in sports I neither know nor understand (curling, etc), it’s about America sticking it to the other countries!
USA!
Well, my dad, being from a Western Pennsylvania steel town, made damn sure we grew up not just sports fans but Pittsburgh sports fans, this was an exciting a hockey game as I have seen. Both my sons have played hockey – the youngest still does – and once it is in your blood it stays. I coached youth hockey in summer leagues for both of my sons. I don’t do that anymore as the older youth players are in structured leagues with USA Hockey certified coaches
Canada is still the world’s premier hockey nation but the USA has caught up to its northern neighbors.
As for fighting it has almost disappeared from the sport due to concussions and early deaths of former NHL players.
My oldest son played youth hockey with a cousin of US Olympian Vince Trochek.
Both the ladies and gents won the hockey golf medal. The Olympics considers it a single gold medal in the medal count. I find it ridiculous that a single medal for figure skating counts the same as the hockey team winning. Truth is the US blew away the rest of the world. 44 gold medals for the ladies and gents…well done
