May he now be concelebrating Mass with Christ in Heaven.
No Better Way for a Priest to Go
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Rev. Beisteiner looks young. We pray for his soul, the family and the congregation.
It appears that the church is located in Germany. Sad, one less good priest, the country needs devout priests.
The photo looks staged and checking on the story the priest was 59 years old. Most other articles have a picture of a man in a prayerful stance with more gray in his hair than this one.
IMHO, that looks like a bad AI image. Hard to tell these days.
Father Raimund Beisteiner’s sudden passing seems typical of an acute heart attack or possibly stroke. He was 59 years only, 8 years younger than I.

We don’t know any details about Father’s health conditions or co-morbidities, but I will advise what I always do: get in shape, exercise, eat healthy, or follow Father possibly with a heart attack. Now maybe in Father’s case God decided in His inscrutable wisdom that Father’s work on Earth was done. But a sudden collapse at 59 years of age is ominous indeed and usually caused (though we can’t say for certain here) by the typical factors of lack of exercise and diet control. Maybe that’s not the case with Father and no one should judge. But my doctor gave me a warning in 2022 and I decided to heed his advice. Of course, I could be out jogging my 5 miles later today and the beer truck hits me. Nevertheless, we should take this as a warning to get in shape.
Bishop Sheen passed during his daily Holy hour in adoration before The Blessed Sacrament.
Actually, there IS a better way to go – martyrdom. Bypassing Purgatory entirely is no small thing.
CAG, I found a report that states that Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen died on December 9, 1979, at his home in Manhattan at the age of 84, after a long battle with heart disease.
That is also true, LQC. He died during adoration in his private chapel.
Sheen died on December 9, 1979, in his private chapel while praying before the Blessed Sacrament.
Another blessed way to go and meet the risen Christ, CAG: from Adoration right to His arms.
This is how Venerable Padre Kino died.
It does look unnatural. Anyway, RIP, Father.
