Always take Trump seriously, but often not literally.
Thought for the Day

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
He’s a real estate developer from Queens who likes to shake the tree before negotiations…. “Always take Trump seriously, but often not literally.“
I’ve tried to explain this to some members of my own family but to no avail. Gauging from their reactions, they’ve lost their thinking skills..
He is an anathema to the diplomatic establishment, many of whom still long for the days when “gentlemen don’t read other gentlemen’s mail.”
Nailed it.
We are at a point where the diplomatic establishment is anathema.
So long as that club is interested mainly in building a worldwide socialist utopia, Trump is a very preferable alternative.
In real estate negotiations, the asks at both ends sound difficult to bridge at the start. If there is a desire by both parties to succeed, there will be a meeting at some point. In diplomacy, the initial proposals are fuzzy concepts that eventually result in an agreement if both parties are to achieve some form of their goals. Pres. Trump might well reflect that he is not at a New York board table any more and consider altering his approach to suit the environment.
”Always take Trump seriously, but often not literally.” Exactly. Don, thanks for posting
