His “Three Conversations Concerning War” is excellent, and his tale of anti-Christ better than Benson’s IMO. Solzhenitsyn recommended both, along with “The Brothers Karamazov”, as the best fictional depictions of the problem of evil in the modern era.
In many ways imitating Christ, Soloviev died penniless at the home of friend and admirer who had taken him in.
