Honestly, despite the vast political divide between me and the rest of my family, holidays have *never* been an issue. The worst stuff is essentially an occasional aside and my wife and I will just exchange a glance and move on.
I believe this is due to the fact that while much of my family are flaming liberals and leftists they are also largely religious.
The leftists who start stuff at family dinners are clearly making politics their religion and have abandoned God. So I guess I’m fortunate in some way.
