And we’re not…. People will ultimately lose faith. Especially those who haven’t realized Christ is on Earth in the Holy Eucharist.

Still not as bad as the Newman Center for Berkeley, CA., aka, “The Bunker” or “The Church of Planet of the Apes” or even “Adam’s Butt”
Added proof of an architectural disaster: the altar. During my six years in Berkeley, I use to wonder over to make sure I saw what I actually saw.
I’m thankful for our pastor and bishop who within one year of arriving took our Vatican 2 Church, you know the one with the Eucharistic Chapel separate and off to the right, and redid our entire sacristy with the Tabernacle in the center right behind the altar. It’s much more traditional with the relic wall, copious candles and other traditional sacred art and statues. Many people need reminders why we are there, and it’s not for “the show.” Unfortunately, our Bishop is probably going to retire since he’s 75. I’m starting to pray that we don’t get a Francis replacement like the bishop in the adjacent Archdiocese of Detroit. Sigh. My youngest daughter was married in that Cathedral.
Gumby was holier than most of today’s hierarchy.

However, I *love* the lighting. It turns what-should-be-a-crucifix into a set of three crosses (with the two shadows behind)
Reminds me of Calvary – the true cross in the center and two “made in His image” behind.

Matthew, that is so similar to the Catholic church on State St, Madison Wisconsin Lo! Those many years ago when I lived there: it too was Brutalist, barren actually frightening but the only way I could get to Mass during the week. Since torn down and replaced brilliantly I understand.

IIRC, Gumby was syndicated and broadcast on Sundays in our area. I remember being quite taken with it. A buddy of mine had Gumby and Pokey figurines and my mother sprung for a Gumby tracing board for us.
