Thought for the Day
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Sunday Oct.5th was a national Rosary campaign called Rosary Coast to Coast. Thousands of people participated on the street around the country.
Today ANF’s Public Square Rosary kicks off in over 23,000 cities around the world.
Fr. Peyton’s spirit and love for God lives on.
“Real Catholicism works every time it is tried.”
Amen to that. The newest generations of priests will lead us back, I believe. I may even live to see the beginning of the Restoration.
Also, Donald, a personal aside: you may already know this, but the priest who today leads the media ministry founded by Father Peyton, Fr. David Guffey, is an Illinois native, and a graduate of my high school (which has since been consolidated out of existence). His parents and sister still attend the tiny parish where we go during our summer exodus from the Texas heat, and Father David returns to celebrate Mass a few times every year.
Thanks Frank! I was unaware of that.
So half a million Catholics put this together in honor of our Blessed Mother, eight years before a similar sized crowd gathered at Woodstock, New York.
A peaceful crowd, at prayer, without drugs, and booze, without public indecency, without mud and squalor.
So, which one do most people remember as historically important?
Which one do you want to attend?
