She quickly unliked it. She isn’t the only one. Some good people are quickly taking screenshots before these people “change their mind” and get caught out. It does your head in.

I saw some foreshadowing of this a few weeks ago when several posts showed up on my Facebook feed celebrating the death of Dr James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, and ranting about how they despised him and how horrible and abusive his parenting advice was and how he deserved to be in hell, etc. Now I know there were good Christian people who legitimately disagreed with some of his advice, but the level of scorn in these posts and comments kind of shocked me at the time. It’s no coincidence, I suppose, that Dobson was the leader of an explicitly Christian, pro life and pro family movement not unlike Turning Point.
I’m a regular on a discussion board which has a scrum of gliberals and leftoids among the posters. Some of these characters have not offered any remarks. Of those who did, every last one said something tasteless. (The people who write for that site more-or-less professionally managed to refrain from that). Vociferous partisan Democrats have damaged sensibilities.

I saw much the same in regard to Dr. Dobson. Dobson was a particular object of hostility for the gay lobby; the vicious commentary was very much on brand for that set.

I was pondering this week on how the Democratic Party (their media and supporters) have sunk so low as to attempt to jail their political opponents and encourage their assassination, then laugh about it.

It wouldn’t be too onerous for Mr. Flowerday’s commenter to seek out the conversation or speech in which the sentence was supposedly uttered, but I’ll wager for his mind it was something too-good-to-check.
These stupid souls all need to be fired and blackballed. Their side has been doing it to anyone who dates to speak out against woke ideology, so if the shoe fits, wear it. Best them over the head with their own club. Not justice, not vengeance, just punishment. Punishment for those who spread hate and evil. Punishment for those who deny God and put themselves in the place of God. Punishment for the vain who worship their own opinions and ideologies, who elevate their thoughts to brilliance when in fact they are objectively stupid.
What people need to understand is that when you touch another person you accept their whole self in love and affection. Criminals need to understand that stealing a person’s possessions they take all of him, his crimes and his sins that only God can know until the criminal is stuck with the victim’s sins.
Murder someone and he goes to heaven free and clear. The murderer has got all of the victim’s sins.

I am enthusiastically in favor of prosecuting leftists when they break laws. I also think it is *well* past time to refrain from calling out their ideas as stupid- a restraint generally more motivated by cowardice than charity. However, I do not want to wield morality against them the way they wield woke against me.
God will have His justice, and His vengeance, in His good time. The current me (the new man) is impatient for this. The younger me (the old man, a persecuter like Paul) is grateful that God postponed His vengeance long enough for me to get my cranium out of my posterior. St. Thomas (in I.II, Q. 96, A. 2) discusses whether human law should proscribe or repress all vices, and his conclusion is that while it necessarily represses some species of each vice, it would be counter-productive (so to speak) to have laws repressing all vices, for that would be treating all men as if they were already virtuous, which instead of inclining them to virtue (as law intended) would induce to them further and greater evil (Reply to Objection 2). Is something like this what your concern is getting at?
If so, I would certainly agree and be on the side of the angelic doctor. Granting that, I think we are very far from being in a society that has to worry about legislating its citizens to be more virtuous than is prudent for the common good. There are numerous vices and elements of wokeness not currently proscribed that certainly need to have morality vehemently wielded against them.

You have NeverTrumpers who strike me as on the level and behaving roughly normally. It’s a short list, and I’m not sure there are any names on it other than Marvin Olasky. He retired a number of years ago and says little. Then you have those who are not on the level but are behaving explicably; see Robert Stacy McCain’s assessment of Charles J. Sykes. You might classify Meghan McCain as one or the other. Most of these guys are telling you they were not who they seemed to be for twenty years or more. The question is, why the long con and what motivated them to undertake a different tack. Trump is adept at tearing the masks off people, but it’s sometimes difficult to discern what’s underneath the mask. (Conway’s behavior suggests he hates the mother of his children among other things).

I read through some of your comments in those posts and they demonstrate the same kind of vacuous and ignorant justifications used by the ghouls you are currently criticizing. There is a universal moral law, and it doesn’t just apply when one’s partisan group is attacked.
