In my mind Chicago has always had a problem with crime and violence since forever, and it’s caused by minority groups. Trump, NYorker clearly realises it doesn’t have to be that way. Besides, Pritzker is a billionaire who is completely cushioned from the realities of street crime and violence. Chalk and cheese Trump and Pritzker.
Add to the picture the Chicago mayor’s attempt to nullify Federal law by mayoral “Executive Order”, supposedly preventing any City agency from assisting ICE, a power that I’m assured does not appear anywhere in the City’s governing documents. At last report, Mayor Conehead (as he is known by the bloggers at Second City Cop) scored an impressively low 13 percent favorability rating with likely voters, and the police are understaffed and overwhelmed. So he’s doubling down. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.
You couldn’t sell this plot to a movie producer, even under today’s very low standards, except as comic farce. But it’s no comedy to the people stuck with living in what is now effectively a war zone every weekend.
