Sort of proves where TDS originates, doesn’t it?
I guess that the author would be comfortable in picking the elect. I hope I’m not on his list.
I’m afraid it doesn’t matter what he wants. Salvation is all up to the individual and God. And no one else.
Trump’s comment prompted a discussion on the Annie Frye radio show in St, Louis. Frye is Lutheran and the others are some Christian Evangelical demolition.Trump’s comment brought up the “good works versus faith alone” debate. Frye said, “If saving 7,000 lives a week is what it takes for someone to get into heaven, I’m screwed.”
It was essentially St. Paul versus St. James.
I wish it was possible to edit our comments! I obviously meant “denomination.”
Very Calvinist, the choosing of the elect by a certain criteria, something liberal Christianity is good at. Young, Restless and Reformed liberalism indeed, John Piper what have you done?
“Trump gets liberal Protestants to believe in Heaven and Hell”
Oh, I’m sure lots of liberal Protestants believe in *Heaven*
The problem with Christians, in general, is that they don’t believe in Hell.
(Or if they do, misquote Sartre and think that “Hell is *for* other people.”)

No George Haberberger. You got it right the first time. 🙂
There’s nothing about Trump that a Christian should aspire to. He displays no virtue. I hope he attains heaven, but I can only picture it in a deathbed conversion scenario.
As C. S. Lewis points out in “The Great Divorce”, they’re are some who will refuse to enter heaven because they don’t like who is already there.
He displays no virtue.

Along with his many vices, he displays virtues, just none about which you care. Which is your issue, not his.
