Completely agree. Our biggest problem now is that catechesis has been so lame for the past several decades, maybe longer in some places. How can a laity who were never taught the essential truths of the Faith be expected to defend those truths against wolves in shepherd’s clothing? The best recent sources of good catechesis, the traditional Mass communities, are being systematically destroyed by the very same wolves who are supposedly responsible for teaching the truth. Pray that Pope Leo will see and understand this, and do something to correct the situation, other than giving up and handing the Church over to the world, as his predecessor sought to do.
How can a laity who were never taught the essential truths of the Faith be expected to defend those truths against wolves in shepherd’s clothing?
Especially since the world sells if it feels good do it and these wolves give them permission. It really will be the Remnant.
While I agree with Lead Kindly Light, I think we who know a little something about history and tradition and apologetics must fight back against the corruption and heresies of the Institutional Church. Every time a bishop or a priest says or does something heretical, we should point it out publicly on social media and never ever let them get away with such things again. Oh, I got blocked by one such priest, a supposed conservative who is more interested in EWTN accolades than anything else. But don’t let that deter you. Shame these rotten clerics into doing what’s right. Make them feel the heat of being humiliated in public.
How true these words of the Venerable Bishop Fulton J. Sheen:
Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops, and your religious act like religious. – Fulton J. Sheen
May he soon receive the reward of Canonisation that he truly deserves.
I’ve heard this Sheen quote a number of times. I like it, but is it followed by HOW we make a bishop behave like a bishop???
How?
How does one help a transvestite to see the errors of it’s way?
Or the acholic?
The Bishop?
I don’t know all of the solutions but I do know who knows and who can do it perfectly.
I suggest that we start with sacrifices for these individuals. Increased prayers and mortifications. We become the suffering servant as Christ became the ultimate one for us.
Cold shower? It won’t kill you and if you offer that act for the conversion of the transvestite, acholic or Bishop you can be sure of one thing. God will take it into account and use it.
Will you see the results of your offering?
Probably not, but blessed are those who believe but have not seen.
I do practice what I preach and trust in God.
I don’t worry about the outcome.
