July 24, 1969: Splashdown

Waking up at 6:47 AM Eastern Daylight Time, the crew made final preparations for reentry.  At 12:21 PM the Command Module separated from the Service Module.  Columbia entered the Earth’s atmosphere four minutes later.  Columbia splashed down 950 miles southwest of Honolulu and 15 miles from their recovery ship, USS Hornet. Collins, Armstrong and Aldrin were home, their unforgettable mission completed.

Those were the days. A Thanksgiving prayer to God Almighty was made. ( the clip ) How far the country has slipped. Trump is not perfect, but he does acknowledge, publicly, the I Am Who Am.

A nation that turns there back on God can expect reciprocity. We, as a nation, have pushed the envelope. May God continue to hear our prayers.

Thanks for the series Don. Man on the Moon. July 20th 1969. I will always remember that evening. Black and white images coming through our television. Images from the Moon. At 8 years old my imagination was flying high that night.
