No Surprise

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

Ofcourse. It’s like asking everyone to record every private conversation they had. It’s crazy. Common sense prevailed, Thanks be to God.
Have to wonder though, that if this had made it to the Supreme Court, it wouldn’t have been 8-1 or 7-2 -with Jackson writing the dissent.
Pardon me if I’m way out on a limb here.
If you can discredit the Holy Catholic Church and do so by any means possible, you could influence potential converts to cease any thoughts that they had about entering the Catholic Church. Worse yet, if the government could foul one part of one of the Churches sacrament, why would they stop there?
The end game of Satan is to erradicate the priesthood and in so doing the sacrifice of the Mass. No Mass, no Eurchrist, no Jesus being within the body of believers and Satan is shooting fish in a barrel.
Mass in the catacombs.
An underground Catholic Church here in America.
That’s our future if the
left continues to crawl on their bellies into more halls of Justice. The FBI and IRS to be used as weapons against Catholics? How unimaginable right?
….the Limb broke. 🙄
Yet those same bishops who sued, have yet to Excommunicate the Catholic legislators who voted for it nor the Catholic Governor who signed the bill making it the law. Apparently the Bishops are still Democrats first.
Agreed, JFK. And the author of the bill is, IIRC, herself a fallen away Catholic who has made clear her hatred of the Church. Pray for them all.
The politicians who wrote and passed this deeply bigoted and un-American legislation got exactly what they wanted, at no cost to themselves. They knew it’d never survive in the courts, but it was a performance piece that made their shrill leftist base happy. And—bonus! — it cost the Church they hate a small fortune in legal fees, while the legislators can just bill Washington taxpayers for the expense of defending the indefensible.
I wonder if the bishops in Washington state have woken up to the fact that the Democrats hate them, and only let them sit at the cool kids table if they can make themselves useful.
it cost the Church they hate a small fortune in legal fees,
Nope. The Saint Thomas More Society provided representation gratis.
While all’s well that ends well in this case I suppose, had the bishops had more of a spine in resisting then Gov. Inslee shutting down the churches during The Plague, perhaps the dems wouldn’t have been so emboldened to try this stupid stunt… my thoughts at least. On the other hand the dems have no shame and don’t learn either way…
I don’t miss living the Union of Seattle Socialist Republics. At all.
Don, I’m delighted to hear that the Saint Thomas More Society did that. That was a non-trivial amount of hours and dollars on their part. The STMS does a lot of good.
60 Minutes “Catholic orphanage is hell” is another hit piece being broadcast as I write this.
What no one is saying is that regardless of the alleged accusations of how the babies were given up and records lost, these babies WERE SAVED. They were NOT killed by an abortionist. They were reunited with their birth mothers..in other words, they lived, loved and raised their own families.
They were given a chance to live, not like today’s throw-away culture. Not ripped apart in the womb. Not burned up in a chemical abortion. Not decapitated.
The cowards at 60 minutes choose not to mention the saving aspect of the orphanage.
Yup.
The Catholic Church is underfire and always will be until the very end.
The 60 Minutes story took place in Italy and focused on unwed mothers who could not raise the child for various reasons.

Correction. The lead counsel were from Becket and the First Liberty Institute. The Saint Thomas More Society filed a friend of the court brief on behalf of Bishop Barron.
