Go here to read the story. This is being done now because Pope Leo wants it to be done. In public Pope Leo will continue to sing the praises of Pope Francis. Privately I suspect he has no illusions about his predecessor and will act accordingly.

Yes
Continuity & Right the Ship.
Somethings are best handled in the officer’s dining room onboard ship.
Good Captain Leo.
I may become a White Sox fan… (just kidding).
I suspect that’s Pope Leo’s style. Unassuming yet effective. The best way to be.
This is where the Captain has a meeting in the Officers’ Mess and calmly explains how things will be run on his submarine.
No clue what’s going on in the apparat. If this pustule is being removed, good.
I feel like we once again have a pope who is truly a Holy Father. I have even written to him.
A bit off-topic but any thoughts about this?

I think you’re 100% correct. It was an open secret that Papa Bergoglio was a sociopath to some extent or other (also, to quote Pres. Trump, “a low IQ individual”). The relief in Rome, both laity and clergy, has been quite visible. Palpable even.
George H, my only thought is that I’ve no idea whether this really means anything or not. We know next to nothing about what is in the Bergoglio/Parolin agreement with the CCP, at least not yet.
The Jesuits waiting until Francis is dead to find their outrage over Rupnik’s crimes explodes the notion that sad order has any interest in “speaking truth to power”. As if we needed any more evidence the Jesuits deserve to be suppressed again.
Clinton, I’m no Jesuit cheerleader, but they did excommunicate Rupnik and, when the pope unexcommunicated him, threw him out of the order.
His Holiness Pope Leo XIV is no dummy, nor is he just some functionary with a nut job agenda.
In order to get much done he has to root out the Bergoglio loyalists who will betray him given the opportunity. This will take longer than we want it to.

I fully agree with your take on Pope Leo’s actions.
It would serve no purpose to criticize any of his predecessors. But actions speak louder than words, and from what I can see, His Holiness is a man of great faithfulness, who thinks before he writes and speaks, and who is sensible and humble. He is not stupid nor swayed by extreme traditionalists nor progressives. He is obedient to God and to the teaching of the Church and leads by example. For me, he is a great blessing, and I am grateful.
