Saint of the Day Quote: Saint Philip of Zell

 

Seventh century Benedictine hermit and abbot.  An Anglo-Saxon, he went on a pilgrimage and stayed at Worms.  He became a friend and counselor of King Pepin the Short, the father of Charlemagne.  Founded the monastery of Zell, so called because it started with a single cell.
