Judas:  – Because men are weak
Because they are cursed with envy and cowardice
Because they can dream of truth, but cannot live with it, they doubt
They doubt, the fools
Why must men betray themselves with doubts?
– Tell them, the others, find them and tell them not to doubt
Even now not to doubt
Tell them to keep their faith
They must keep faith
Demetrius:  – Wait, tell who?
Who are you?
Judas:  – My name is Judas

Screenplay The Robe (1953)

Michael Ansara at the beginning of his long career gives an absolutely unforgettable rendition of Judas in The Robe (1953).  Never has complete despair been more powerfully conveyed.  Yet, out of the bottomless pit he has fallen into, Judas pleads that the other Apostles must keep the Faith.

An elder in our church ordered a carving of the last supper from Israel – only it’s not the painting but of the tri-table set up that is historically accurate. We were discussing it and he pointed out to me that Jesus, in the seat of honor, would have had John to His right, and Judas on His left.

Even though Jesus knew Judas would betray Him, He didn’t place the man on the far side of the room away from Him, but right by His side. It says something about our Lord. I’m still pondering on what, but it does say something.

Joaquin, If you are using your phone to read TAC, try changing the aspect setting to landscape. I just tested it on my phone and it works.

C Matt, in the not too distant we’ll need to point out to kids that by goats, we don’t mean the greatest of all time. One of my sons pointed that out, and it seems symbolic doesn’t it.
