Go here to read the rest.  This would be a good time to pray for the Pope.

Basically the same info in the PM update from Vatican News. Va. 7:11 PM Rome time Sat 2/22/25:

“The condition of the Holy Father continues to be critical. Therefore, as explained yesterday, the Pope is not out of danger. This morning, Pope Francis experienced an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, which required the administration of high-flow oxygen.”

“Today’s blood tests also revealed thrombocytopenia, associated with anemia, which required the administration of blood transfusions.“

I agree with this prayer by the Bishop of the Anglican Province of America.

Let us pray for Francis, Bishop of Rome, who is in extremis…

O FATHER of mercies, and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need; We fly unto thee for succour in behalf of this thy servant, Francis, Bishop, lying in great weakness of body. Look graciously upon him, O Lord; and the more the outward man decayeth, strengthen him, we beseech thee, so much the more continually with thy grace and Holy Spirit in the inner man. Give him unfeigned repentance for all the errors of his life past, and stedfast faith in thy Son Jesus; that his sins may be done away by thy mercy, and his pardon sealed in heaven; through the same thy Son, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Read a report (NYT) just now that Francis has “mild” kidney failure, which cannot be good. Not sure how any organ failure can be “mild”.

I’m at a Zoom meeting, and the leader, a priest has just announce he’s got a text that Pope Francis has died. Is that correct? If so, may he have received absolution and may his soul have repose.
