Not the Former Second Gentleman!

You have to read the British tabloids to learn what is going on in this country if the news in question is bad for the Democrats.  Go here to read the story.  Well Emhoff was certainly as little help to her in the campaign, as Walz was, but the one thing that rings true about this poorly sourced story is that Harris will blame everyone, other than herself, for her loss and that she is delusional enough to try again in 2028.  I would love to see her go against Vance in 2028.  Harris of course lost the race all by herself after blowing a billion and a half, an almost five to one money advantage.  Lets see if the Democrat donors are stupid enough to pony up that type of cash again.

At this point, she has blamed everyone but herself…Speaking of dead weight, Michelle Obama has been MIA at both the late Carters funeral service and the inauguration…I kinda felt sorry for BO having to attend both on his own…

It’s the sort of article it would not be prudent to take seriously.

Other than the departing incumbent (who may or may not be welcome), I’m not seeing why any of the various formers (and their spouses) should feel compelled to attend the inauguration and at least one (Richard Cheney) should have been specifically debarred. Ditto Mr. Carter’s funeral. I doubt Mooch met Mr. Carter more than a couple of times over the years. Unless a president dies in office, I’m not seeing why there should be a state funeral, either.

So with Barack and Michelle allegedly headed for Splitsville and now Kamala and Doug, any bets on Bill and Hillary being next in line? I kind of doubt that will happen — if they were going to split up it most likely would have been after the 2016 election (when Hill reportedly ignored Bill’s advice to campaign more in the Rust Belt). Plus Bill and Hill were married in October 1975 which means their 50th anniversary (believe it or not) is coming up.

No bets on any of them. There are always surprises. (See the Gores). The most likely wager for papers would be KH contra her husband. The Clintons have always been a puzzling pair, but they’ve endured as a couple. The Obamas have been appended long enough that future proceedings would be unlikely as well.

I’m not sure they felt “compelled” to attend, but if they are still power brokers in their parties and they were clearly invited then it’s in their interest to attend to remain relevant. Also, there is something good in seeing a sworn in leader recognising past leaders (regardless of how awful they are/were), even if it is for the pomp and ceremony. Not many other countries do this, and they should.

Re: Obamas, I think the fact Michelle has been MIA with no explanation to the public is rude and shows her arrogance at the privilege she has been afforded to maintain a certain lifestyle and power because she happened to be married to a former POTUS. IMHO

Art:
The Clintons remind me of the movie with the two cons escaping prison chained together. It’s hard to belief they can stand one another, but perhaps they can’t cut loose because they know of too many mutual crimes.
I wonder if Michelle’s absence was a resentment of “Dr.” Jill and the power she wielded in Biden’s later years. “Gee, Barry never let ME play President! How come the lady with the fake PhD got to?”

There were TV cameras present.

” I think the fact Michelle has been MIA with no explanation to the public is rude”

She publicly said she didn’t attend because she can’t stand Trump … Why not take her at her word?

“She publicly said she didn’t attend because she can’t stand Trump … Why not take her at her word?”

I thought the media came to that conclusion, not that she actually publicly stated that. Well, if that’s the case, she needs to grow up.
