This one is particularly personal to me. They are rotten people running that See.
Wasn’t Bishop Strickland’s removal blamed on poor financial governance?
(Is Cardinal Gregory next?)
What did the Cardinal say about TLM, slow painful death or something?
Maybe he foresaw his own diocese
What? There’s real world consequences for harboring scum and villany, and then punishing the charitable? Ha…wait until he finds out there might be purgatorial consequences on the backend. May God have mercy on him and his brothers.
And yet, the archdiocese is still paying the disgraced Cardinal Wuerl a pretty hefty stipend … I’m (almost) sure it’s not hush money.

I recommend reading the entire thread on Twitter/X if you can. It contains details that will stun you, if you are as unfamiliar as I was with how the ADW has been run for decades now. “Scandalous” would be a massive understatement. But there will be no ecclesial consequences for Cdl. Gregory, aka “Queen of the Nile”, a Francis favorite.

Being in close proximity to the DC, I wonder if politics has contributed to the corruption, or should I say, “financial mismanagement” of the Archdiocese of Washington…
The Archdiocese of Washington, DC is not particularly large, unlike Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc., consisting of the District as well as Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. There is a lot of money in that archdiocese but as stated, it has not been run well for decades. McCarrick and Wuerl were both terrible in their roles as shepherds. McCarrick’s sins are well known but Wuerl….well, it took him going to DC to really uncover the truth about him both in Pittsburgh and Washington.
I was at a TLM at Old St. Mary’s in Chinatown, the first one I had been to since I was a toddler ( this was in 1999). +Gregory was a subpar bishop in Atlanta. Shutting down the TLM in DC was beyond stupid but not unexpected.
