Now I assume that Trump will tell Putin that the time for peace has arrived, or the US will give the Ukrainians technology that will shift the war against Russia. That is the stick. The carrot is a normalization of trade relations with the US and NATO. Once it becomes a matter of negotiation, Trump is in his element.

Forgive me if I’m wrong. Biden was a very weak stick. His impediments became more and more visible leading up to a point that was beyond embarrassment. Just plain cruel to prop him up and lead him along like a lost dog.
That pathetic so-called presidency is behind us…thanks be to God.

I hope the substance of your words are true, however the fact remains that Biden’s handlers are in control until Inauguration Day.
Trump has made a couple great plays from the sidelines (truly great) but Biden’s team is on the field and a lot can happen before Trump gets the ball.
Over the course of *almost* four years, these people have shown great ability in making things worse. We shouldn’t expect the dog to change it’s spots on the way into the kennel.
“cede territory to Russia”. What’s missing is the second half of the sentence, “if Ukraine could join NATO”. Not gonna happen.

Well, to be completely accurate, CAM, Zelensky only mentioned Ukraine being under a “NATO umbrella” of protection … I don’t know what that means, but apparently, he envisions something short of membership (since Putin would never accept it, nor would most NATO member states) … Then Zelensky went on to say: “That’s what we need to do fast, and then Ukraine can get back the other part of its territory diplomatically.” … It’s not much more than a “Stop shooting each other while we negotiate” statement, but with NATO protection (no fly zone?) thrown in.
Whatever he told Putin, Putin won’t say. Probably “knock it the hell off or we keep sending weapons and the Ukes are in NATO”.
