An interesting look at the second Trump administration and what it means for foreign policy by James Dunnigan and Austin Bay. The Puppetmasters’ Administration has been such a disaster domestically that it has obscured what a disaster it has also been on the foreign policy front.
I never understood why Biden had no help up those long stairs. Sure any man his age is so entitled (as I help my 89-year-old Dad). Was it personal vanity? Desire for a photo-op of his health (which didn’t work)?
I haven’t seen a set of stairs like that appended to an airplane since about 1979.
You’ll recall that Gerald Ford’s minor stumbles on stairs were replayed multiple times on network ‘news’ shows, were misrepresented in print media, and were fodder for late night comedy. Also broadcast were photographs of him when he’d taken a tumble skiing. Ford’s reply was that he was being told he was a klutz by reporters who got their exercise on barstools.

Air Force one appears to have become a 747 during Reagan’s term. The tall stairs were needed for the taller plane. They nearly always use the tall external stairs unless they aren’t available or there is a security issue. All appear to have used it several times, but Biden seems to be using it almost exclusively.
