The Presidential Medal of Freedom is properly eliminated. It’s always been oddly scattered among the obtrusive, so was never much of an award. Now it’s befouled completely. Issue a statement that the award besmirches those who merit some sort of recognition and elevates those who deserve none.
While we’re at it, I’d love it if we could eliminate about 85% of the president’s travel and 85% of his public appearances, ceremonial and nonceremonial. Getting him out of the bubble means he has impromptu discussions with ordinary people, not scripted and has meetings with other pols (federal, state, and local) about business or just anything under the sun you’d discuss over lunch or during some pastime.
