I will plead guilty to being more annoyed with this kind of assertion than amused. I heard lots of this during my teens–and since; women seemed to claim credit for many things which… weren’t necessarily related to the dignity of womanhood.
Well, men are not animals (even the bad ones). So no need to treat them as such. And vice versa. But I do see the humour in this.
That’s a bit backwards…
