Stallone has made a career of creating modern myths on film: Rocky and Rambo. Trump is a larger than life figure come to life. Love him or hate him, and I have been close to both many times, he is a nineteenth century tycoon, marooned in modern times, who entered politics, won unexpectedly, and against the odds, in 2016, and staged the greatest political comeback in 2024 in American history. His story is not done, and I expect more ups and downs and thrills and chills to come, but his tale will be told endlessly, as long as there is an American people. Most politicians are the stuff of prose as exciting as a warning label on a bottle of aspirin; Trump is an epic poem. and let us hope it is a classic comedy, which means a happy ending for all of us.
Mythic Character
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
“No, maybe I can’t win, maybe the only thing I can do is just take everything he’s got. But to beat me, he’s gonna have to kill me, and to kill me, he’s gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me, and to do that, he’s gotta be willing to die himself and I don’t know if he’s ready to do that. I don’t know, I don’t know.” – Rocky Balboa
Trump had a good reason to step away after the assassination attempt, but he couldn’t. He wouldn’t. His heart was too big to do that. A fighter’s heart. Sly is right. Trump is a mythical character of sorts. Laying down his life for that of a nation. God be with him.
Trump is Legend, but still living. Thank God.
All our foreign issues and nuisance wars will melt away because everyone will respect and want to make a deal with Legend.
That frees up time to focus domestically.
And Legend is focused.
It seems to me that there are two kinds of kings that return from exile. The kind that fight to save their people and the kind that fight to reclaim what’s theirs.
Trump is the former, and thank God that it is so.
He has faults, certainly, but he is honest enough to let us see most of them. Perhaps the honesty is the most inscrutable and terrifying part to the Swamp.
Trump just keeps bringing it. This is powerful on so many levels.
Trump knows his audience and he relates to them – it’s the “fighters”, so to speak. The people who get up everyday and to take on whatever the world throws at them. Thats the very people who gave Trump his victory.
So who does Trump pull out from his hat but the ultimate rags-to-riches fighting man – the self-made American who created his own success both in the character – Rocky – on the screen, and the creator behind it – Stallone.
Respect.
