If you read the actual memo, the instruction to avoid homes with Trump signs is among a list of “safety” instructions that include advice to stay hydrated, be careful in traffic, etc. The writer of the memo may have assumed that Trump supporters would be hostile to FEMA workers and possibly threaten or attack them. If that is the case, it just goes to show how endemic Trump Derangement Syndrome has become among federal agency workers.

For the US government to deny Western North Carolina locals to continue rescuing and aiding their fellow citizens was a disgrace but not a surprise. That part of the state votes red. Fellow Southerners were coming up from the lower South in trucks and helos to help; DeSantis sent help from FL. My state of VA sent cadaver dogs and other help. My husband’s doctor took to two weeks off and proved medical care helped in NC. Meanwhile FEMA and the National Guard were told to stand by. Trump put up electric crews in his hotels and probably did more. Elon Musk’s Starlink restored phone service, though the Feds didn’t let him right away.
I would be most interested in the election returns from the Asheville area, which is said to be deep blue. I wonder if that changed after FEMA told western NC to drop dead?
Yes, punish the one who gave the recommendation, but also punish those stupid or vile enough to follow it. Particularly since it was only a recommendation and not an order.
