They do not. EVERY threatening Republican presidential candidate and sitting President since Reagan has been called a “Hitler”. I saw an old Truman ad recently where he said his opponent was like Hitler. The very worse one was the Johnson “Daisy” ad of 1964.
They also have no brains. They didn’t study (real) history or political philosophy if they think a flamboyant libertarian who wants to enforce US laws on immigration and street crime is a fascist. The fascist believes that the state is all, defines all, includes all. The fascist state can declare humans nonpersons, if they are politically inconvenient (like unborn children). The fascist state can criminalize opposition politics and even religious beliefs (like traditional Christianity), if they are perceived contrary to state interests. It can take control of the economy at will (like forgiving debts of friendly partisans, fixing prices, closing businesses for pandemics). It can certainly ban the ownership of firearms and free speech.
If Kamala’s supporter want to see fascism, let ’em look in a mirror.

People today seem unable to avoid ridiculous, over-the-top exaggerations. When professional athletes who make more money in a single season than most people do in a lifetime compare their employment to slavery — and are taken seriously when they make that comparison — it is clear that rational discourse is no longer possible.
The real problem is that most people think that the world literally starts and ends with what they believe. And the vast majority of politicians and movie celebrities take it all to a new level. Both make a living by being fake which is reason enough to ignore them, but when their projections assume the malevolence of those that oppose them (because they are malevolent), then they are easy to despise and easier to ignore. Sticks and stones…. And just shut the hell up.
@LKL — I’m not even sure it’s so much what they BELIEVE. It seems instead to be what they WANT. After all, the Big Lie today is that there is nothing that cannot be changed if enough of the right people want to change it.
