Fluffy Murder Machines

The Tyger

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And water’d heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Domestic cats are some of the most specialized killing machines in nature. Everything is raw murder machine. Massive muscle to weight ratio, optimized for extreme agility. 30mph top speed blows the doors off nearly anything it may encounter in nature. Tail allows for balance while running. Able to jump multiple times its own height. Able to fall a multiple of it’s jump height. 20 built-in claws also act as tools to assist in movement and extreme climbing ability. Bite force enables additional attack vectors. Night vision. Ability to track small objects. Insane paw-eye coordination. Cats (big and small) are best predator.

All to sleep on your lap.

Edit: Also did I mention their incredible sense of smell and their built-in instinct to hide their tracks? Every. Single. Detail. Murder.

Go here to read the rest.  Dogs will hunt for fun with their humans.  Cats hunt because they are a predator par excellance, and the call of the wild is usually not far beneath the surface of the domestic cat.

I love both dogs and cats, as well as most other animals. But I have always preferred cats 🐈 . God’s perfect little murder machines. 😉

Don’t have a cat but vacationing on a farm a couple of years ago, became friendly with a black cat I called “midnight”. Shortly after.. one early AM, found a dead rabbit 1/4 eaten laid on my doorstep twice (2x) midnights size… after that I affectionately called the cat “killer”.
Lot’s of coyotes in the area, but “killer” was I’m sure evasive when not hunting.
Very impressive.

This year we acquired 5 cats — a stray pregnant mama came to our house and later gave birth to 4 kittens in our basement. The kittens are now 7 1/2 months old and practically teenage/adult size cats. Their urge to hunt apparently peaks in the wee hours of the morning when they get the “zoomies”. We had been planning on keeping the mama and 2 of the kittens and rehoming the other 2, trouble is we can’t decide on which 2 :-). Still, if anyone in the Central Illinois area is interested in adopting a young cat (we have 3 girls and 1 boy; all but one female kitten have been spayed/neutered, and the last kitten is scheduled to be fixed on 11/15) we’d like to hear from them.

They break things deliberately. They shamelessly take what’s not theirs. They act out of spite and (unlike dogs) don’t even bother to try to look repentant. But they’re just so darn cute and curious. I can’t stay mad at ’em.
