PopeWatch: Anyone Surprised?

Go here to read the story.  If it weren’t for the Knights of Columbus there would hardly be any Republican contributions at all.  Your donation dollars at work.

Assume the people who make these contributions to the Party of Death candidates have a well-formed conscience [I know: re some people this is a stretch], then what they do with their dollar$s is formal cooperation with intrinsic evil and they will, if they do not repent, confess their sins, and do their penance, burn in that hell forever which the man who presently wears papal white says is not forever.. A good reminder as I was trying to decide how to donate for hurricane relief. Looks like the Knights.

Prior to 1970, the political parties weren’t all that distinguishable on nonnegotiable issues and Catholics tended to come from ethnic or social backgrounds where favoring the Democratic Party was the mode. As late as 1995, you had certain states where social conservatives were common among Democratic voters and politicians. That whole dispensation is gone. At the same time, you can wager that the staff was increasingly dominated by lay social work professionals. People drawn to that trade and willing to sit through the course work that social work programs offer one might wager are steeped in regime attitudes and supervisors at CRS refuse to hire anyone else.

This is a genuine service on the part of the Lepanto Institute and TAC. I’ve given to both CRS and Covenant House in the past (not recently) and planned a bequest. Nothing will be given in the future.

(1) The false gospel of social justice, the common good, and peace at any price must be eradicated from the Church. You think immigrants should be helped? Do it yourself. You think the poor should be fed? Do it yourself. You think the sick should be cared for? Do it yourself.

(2) Back a decade and a half ago when I was working on the ESBWR reactor design for GE-Hitachi in Wilmington, NC, I decided to join the K of C. There was one occasion when I was the driver to some sort of gathering that I cannot recall. It was around the 2008 election time, so obviously politics was on everyone’s mind. Several of the men in the vehicle said they were Democrats because the Democratic Party’s social justice position was closest to the Church’s. I wanted to stop my vehicle and throw them out. I didn’t. I shut my mouth, went through the motions that day, and never returned to the K of C. Maybe my experience is an exception, but I darn sure won’t have anything to do with that social justice crap. I sponsored (mentored) alcoholics & addicts, put them in halfway houses, financed their rent, taken care of immigrants victimized by human trafficking, gotten immigrants set up in their own home in my country, etc. Frack that social justice crap all to hell.

I spend every Tuesday night with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at our parish to try and help people with food, housing, other needs. I am also a Knight, and I can tell you that the Knights are the most consistent source of donations to the Society. Jesus didn’t say to send the little ones to Caesar for help.

Sadly, CRS and nearly all the other similar organizations that purport to be Catholic are just lefty NGO’s playing the faithful for suckers. (I make exception for the SSVDP and, for the most part, the KofC). They have fallen victim to Conquest’s Second Law: “Any organization not explicitly and constitutionally right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing.”

In addition, they all are in some fashion controlled or strongly influenced by the USCCB, which is clearly described by Conquest’s Third Law: “The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.”

The USCCB and all the SJW NGO’s need to suffer the same fate as the Federal alphabet law enforcement agencies, and be abolished in their entirety. We must return to the practice of subsidiarity in both fields.

Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, individual KofC councils tend to reflect the same makeup as the churches / areas they pull from.
The one I was in back in Western Washington leaned right even in that cesspool of a state, but the one I’m a member of here in North Idaho is about as conservative as you can get.

Subsidiarity, definitely.

The days of lazily giving to an umbrella group and assuming they will do your good works for you are OVER.

Give to reputable people for a specific purpose, or do it yourself.

Giving to an umbrella group and hoping for the best is no better than tossing the money in the street and hoping it will be found by someone who needs it! We can and should do better.

At the Lafayette Cathederal Masses if I see nuns from Mother Teresa’s Mission of Charity I’ll give them a check. After visits to their compound in Olongopo, Philipines I know the money will be used wisely.
KOVAR is worthwhile; it’s the Virginia Knights of Columbus tax exempt charity. The program serves Virginians with intellectual disabilities.
Most local charities in my area are worthwhile, but before giving they need to be checked out.
Also in Virginia are Paul Stefan Homes for pregnant women founded by Fr. Stefan Starzynski.
The mission women’s group distribute generous tubs of food at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Probably 50 families receive them each holiday.
Pre-born supplies sonogram machines to crisis pregnancy centers.
Cross Catholics sends out too many letters. When the Cross Catholic priests sub for our priest, I’ll donate because I know they use their own money to travel and some of them have seen Cross Catholic in action.
Feed the Poor harrassed me after we donated for the second collection. First there were letters and then daily phone calls demanding more donations.
Catholic Charities at the border, no. CRS, no.

My parents always supported Covenat House, Boystown and Native American Catholic missions and schools.

Maybe it is just our diocese, but the second collections have increased.
The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal letters come out in December. After COVID most of us ignore it or donate a small amount.
