Trump to Visit National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa

The full story can be found here. While I will admit that this may be a ploy by the Trump Campaign to placate Catholics in the swing state of Pennsylvania, whom he is currently losing 50-43 to Harris, I can’t help but hope he is being genuine.  This comes on the heels of Trump’s recent post on X that commemorated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

With Melania’s Catholic background in play, we can only hope they place their trust in Our Lady.  Let us not forget Our Infant King’s promise to those faithful to Him; “The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.”

Perfect.

I suggest we call on the Black Madonna this evening for more Heavenly assistance before number 45 is terminated.

This is surreal. A banana republic before our very eyes. Lone gunman my butt. He camped out for over 12 hours, from what I understand, according to his smart phone data.

Pray Pray Pray….
..for Trump and for your children.

Trump is losing the Pennsylvania Catholic vote 50% to 43%? Really? Are Catholics in Pennsylvania that freaking stupid? They would rather support a baby-murderer, a sodomy-sanctifier, a transgender child mutilator? Why? Let me guess! Social freaking justice crap. Environmentalism. Trump is an adulterer (but let’s ignore fellatio performing fornicator Harris).Behold the Pope Francis Institutional Church!

LQC

What do we need?
“Joy” in politics, according to Harris.

Beware….this story is nauseating.

btw…nothing quite says Joy as ripping apart an 8th month old fetus. Catholics supporting this Joy make me sick;

A lot of Catholics in PA are concentrated in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. I have found urban Catholics, like urban anybody, seem to skew liberal.

I don’t think he focus grouped the visit. I dare to hope that his experience in western PA is bringing a change in him for the better. I hope for his sake, even if he does not survive the election season. Perhaps especially if he does not survive the election season.

According to Pope Bergolio, opposing immigration is the same as promoting the murder of unborn children. He therefore equates the choice between Trump and Harris as morally indistinguishable, a disgusting position.

After two assassination attempts I can understand Trump wanting to visit the shrine. While President he and Mrs. Trump visited the Saint JohnPaul II National Shrine in DC. Cardinal Gregory was publically critical of the Trumps doing so. Strange since President Trump was really the first active pro life president.

LQC, if that PA figure is based on the poll recently commissioned and publicized by the once-reliable EWTN News division, it is highly suspect, at best. Someone else here listed several serious concerns with the poll’s methodology and reporting. Of course, in the end, the size of the cheat in Philly and P-Burgh will be the determining factor, in all likelihood.

Long time readers know that I live in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Let me begin in saying that I do not believe this poll. Not for one damned minute. Second, I am tired of beating my head against the wall, but it is NOT “Philly and P-burgh (NOBODY says P-burgh).
The City of Philadelphia and its suburban counties of Montgomery, Delaware, Chester and Bucks control Pennsylvania politics. Pittsburgh has about 300K people, the metro area has about 2.3 million and the western HALF of Pennsylvania has less people than Philly and its suburban counties.
The counties that surround Pittsburgh/Allegheny County – Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland vote majority Republican.

There are Trump signs almost everywhere. Catholics are all over Pennsylvania and not necessarily concentrated in either the Philly or Pittsburgh metro areas, though the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is by far the biggest diocese in PA.

Almost all the Harris Walz signs I have seen are in Pittsburgh and in the wealthy suburb of Fox Chapel.

I wish people outside of Pennsylvania would understand the impact that Philadelphia and its 1.6 million people and its suburban counties with millions more impact PA politics. Philadelphia is an East Coast city and its politics are the same as Boston, New York City, New Jersey, Wilmington, Baltimore and Washington.
The Midwest really begins in the Allegheny Mountains.

I was born in Greensburg. I moved back to western PA 29 years ago when Ridge (pro abort GOP gov) and Santorum and then GOP Specter were senators. The GOP got weak after Ridge quit and Santorum lost. I know what I am talking about. Outside of Southeastern PA, PA votes the same as Ohio and West Virginia.

“Are Catholics in Pennsylvania that freaking stupid?”
To answer your question: Yes. Well, stupid and ignorant.

In my thirty years of priesthood, I have learned–to my sorrow–that most priests (evidently) are ignorant of their own Faith, to say nothing of Canon Law or sound moral theology. They know almost nothing of Church history, the lives of the Saints, or the sacred ceremonies.

On top of that, they have little courage. They fear causing any kind of embarrassment or inconvenience for the faithful, no matter how slight or how private it might be.

This terrible and gaping lack in their character results in poorly educated and vicious Catholics: invalid marriages, invalid confessions, sacrilegious Communions, etc. Worrying about abortion and other moral evils in a national election? These people can’t even remain free of mortal sin, and what’s more, they don’t care to.

(I recently learned of a priest, fairly young, ordained fairly recently, who regularly disposed of the Precious Blood after Mass by pouring it out onto the ground, as though it were left-over Holy Water. So, there’s at least one priest running around who is not only excommunicated but suspended a divinis by that very act. And it’s not inculpable ignorance, because he will argue that it is the correct course of action. Just one example.)

Sorry, Penguins Fan. Didn’t mean to offend. I was just trying to come up with something short like “Philly.” 😉

It doesn’t matter if it is purely politically motivated. He needs to show unreserved support for Catholics. He has tried to dampen his pro-life stance during this campaign and Lo-and-behold the Pro-lifers put him in check and he, we could say, corrected his stance. I think his wife has some influence here with her Marian devotion. It’s about time true Catholics caught a break!! Don’t you think?

Penguins Fan- it seems I have unjustly put Pittsburgh in the same basket as Philly.

It is only because I know a clan of Catholics in name only in Pittsburgh, but upon reflection, they had moved there.

Indeed, during a trip along I80 this winter, I got a Midwest impression of the Mass I attended there. I had just assumed that it was because it was far enough outside city limits to be so.

In summation, apologies on my assumptions about Pittsburgh. Very, very happy to be wrong.

I DO however agree with you about the ill effects of Philly on the rest of the state. Happens in a lot of places. (IL, MN, NY etc)

The EWTN / RealClear poll wasn’t restricted to PA. It had Trump losing among non-white and Hispanic Catholics, but leading among white non-Hispanics. I’d guess that PA has a higher percentage of white non-Hispanic Catholics than average, so Trump may be leading among Catholics in the state.

Fr. J, Regarding your comments about the young priest and the Prescious Blood: for cleaning the linens used during Mass I soak the corporals, towels and purificators in a sacrarium (sink). I wring them over the sacracartum. Rinse the sink to make sure there are no flakes of Eurcharist adhering to the sides. The sacrarium drains into a dry well because rinse water cannot go into a sewer or septic field. The rinsed linens are then cleaned in a sacristy washer. I know altar wine is not fine wine but the Prescious Blood is always ty consumed by the priest. At our church only the priest distributes Communion. Occasionally there is intinction Communion No Eucharist Ministers are ever used. Reception choices are kneeling at the altar rail or standing.
I am surprised there is leftover consecrated wine.

I wouldn’t count on “Melania’s Catholic background.” Haven’t seen any evidence of Christisn behavior from her or her husband. Evidence of the opposite is plentiful.

to Smith: or when Melania opened up her husband’s first rally reciting the Our Father and the attendees recited the prayer with her.
I suspect there is a lot more to Melania than is public.
