Common enough in UK and Commonwealth governments in times of a national emergency, Trump is beginning to put together a national government of both Democrats, at least recently, and Republicans. Not unusual for an American president to have a token member of the opposite party as a cabinet secretary, but I think Trump intends to go beyond that. Intriguing.
One of the common big lies told fairly recently is how there was a “shift” in the political parties (mostly to rationalize how Democrats all voted against civil rights legislation), but we have been watching a realignment take place in real time over the past decade or so – economically oriented, this time.
While I don’t think this realignment is going to be 1852 Whig-level destructive, our political parties are going to (and already have) resemble the attitudes of the British parliament – Democrats (Lords) and Republicans (Commons).
At this point, anyone who is willing to make a coalition-style deal with Trump is okay by me. This could prove to be a truly genius level move if he can get some solid people to come on board. Intriguing, indeed.
Trump shot himself in the foot in his first administration by trusting people who were not who he thought they were. I hope this is not more of the same.

I pray that hundreds of thousands of dems have taken off their rose colored glasses and view the past four years without bias. The nation is at emergency status and it’s there because of this Brandon Administration. The left boasted of catching a terrorist threat at the border recently.

Biden saw favorable ballot harvesting coming across the border. Not illegal immigrants.
Citizenship? The left laughs at that concept.
And yet the left screams about protecting our democracy.
May our Republic survive the domestic terrorist attack. The Democrats.

In other countries, new parties are formed all the time with new names to signify new principles. We keep the names while the principles change.
