I’m relating a story that I heard first hand by an altar server that was raped by a priest and then had his heart crushed when mom and dad scolded him for making up a horrible story.
Homosexual priests are not all pedophiles.

Greg, I think the only way the Church can be freed of the sodomite infestations is for God to send a plague that will kill every collared pervert that it has in the priesthood. I suspect there are a lot of them who are still in the closet, so that might be the only way we could be rid of them all in one fell swoop.
If they are “holy, faithful, and celibate” there is no problem.
If they are holy, they will teach that God in no way accepts the homosexual act
If they are faithful, they will put aside all sin and follow Christ.
If they are celibate, no kind of sexual act is occurring.
Every one of us has sins to which we are inclined, often strongly inclined. Only those who are willing to to deny themselves in the service of Christ should be priests. It’s about “Thy will be done”, not “I want to.” The latter type is all too common in all levels of clergy – sadly, we see it daily.
It’s not possible for a man attracted to other men to truly be an effective priest, because such men:
– will struggle with great temptation in an all male environment all their lives.
– will likely conflict directly with church teaching on sexual ethics.
– cannot be masculine fathers in all that entails.
– have desires that conflict with being being another Christ in giving his life for her -the church.
– warp the true meaning of celibacy.
– cannot be examples for other men, especially married men with children.
– there are other reasons as well including susceptibility to: extortion, and being part of a cabal.

Steve, consider that the priesthood has become a hard profession of late, and likely continue to be. Not the soft existence that a homosexual man might be attracted to.
And the “queens” that are bishops now will die out.
For a SSA man, entering a seminary would be a near occasion of sin.
Catholics are still supposed to avoid those, right?
Echoing David WS thoughts- you cannot be a good “gay” priest. It’s like calling someone a good vegetarian meat-eater. Martin is a snake.
Ultimately, if the Church was serious about this, they would screen men for homosexual tendencies (psych assessments, reviewing their backgrounds/upbringing, character references…etc) refuse them entering the seminary. Not for punishment for their tendencies (we all struggle with a tendency to a particular sin one way or another ), but for the sake of good judgement in that allowing a man with homosexual tendencies to live and pray with other men is inviting temptation. And also for the points David WS listed. You can’t have effeminate “fathers”. Strict vetting of seminarians would solve the gay issue in the priesthood and wash out the gays over time.

Perhaps neither is currently possible for such a man, without heroic virtue, considering how this particular sin is lauded and encouraged.
My main point was that all men must steadfastly oppose their temptations and that good priests will not be encouraging rainbow banners.

Homosexuals should be prohibited from the priesthood, public and private schools (to prevent them being around male children), boy scouts and similar organizations (for the same reason), and a few other select vocations. And if I had my way, they would be prohibited from holding public office of any sort, and from being in the military (especially submarines). Homosexuals should keep their proclivities to themselves. But remember: June Pride Month is coming, and all the big corporations, and all the government bureaucracies will be tripping all over themselves to show how much they support human rights with their embrace of the LGBTQ culture. I dread Pride Month at my company because a plethora of rainbow flags will be attached to signatures on emails and internal chat messages, and those who don’t will so be noted. A Cross icon will be attached to my signature; they all will know where I stand! Tamen, sola humilitas occidit superbiam!
