I think “required” here is the wrong word, since many do think–even if they don’t put it that way so obviously–that Vat II was some kind of Great Reset.
Until a pope stands up and calls out the errors and ambiguities in the V2 documents, and does the same for the feminized and Protestantized practices adopted since then, all without any expressed desire by the faithful to have their entire religion basically re-designed by hierarchical fiat. Only then can the Church return to the Faith as handed down from the Apostles.
How long? As long as the cheerleaders of Vatican II remain active in the Church.
As we all know, they are still quite active – music directors imposing irreverent or theologically poor tunes on us, DREs teaching love is love, pastors making their brief homilies as banal and sugary as possible while consecrating the host with bohemian nonchalance.
It don’t help when the more faithful priests and bishops are kicked to the curb while clergy with dubious theology and more dubious conduct are protected and rewarded.
